Cope Foundation has achieved CHKS accreditation and ISO certification 9001:2008

CHKS is a leading provider of healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services.

CHKS work with organisations like Cope Foundation to make sure they maintain the best standards possible in everything they do.

Cope Foundation is the first intellectual disability organisation in Ireland to achieve both CHKS accreditation and ISO certification 9001:2008.

Cope Foundation CEO Sean Abbott said “The achievement of CHKS & ISO accreditation is another step on our journey of continuous improvement. We are constantly striving to improve the way we deliver services and supports to over 2,350 people we support. Achieving this accreditation demonstrates that Cope Foundation will continue to adapt, change, respond and improve to meet the needs of people we support and their families going forward ensuring that they are the centre of everything that we do.”

Achieving CHKS accreditation and ISO certification 9001:2008 took almost 2 years from start to finish.

One person supported by Cope Foundation who was interviewed by CHKS said “I told the lady from CHKS that I like my care plan as everything in it is about me and I helped to write it. I told her how I went to college and received a certificate for advocacy work. I am now an advocacy champion. The CHKS team visited my home twice and I think they saw how things like HIQA and CHKS can improve my daily life.”

On Wednesday 23rd November Cope Foundation hosted two CHKS inspectors who presented the plaque award to Cope Foundation Chairperson, Catherine Field.

This was a great achievement by the staff of Cope Foundation and shows their commitment to the quality person-centred care they provide to the people they support.
