

The Leisure Recreation & Physical Activity Department facilitates the involvement of clients in programmes of leisure, recreation, physical activities and sport. Individuals are encouraged to maintain physical activity throughout their lifespan.
Activities are carried out, both on-site in COPE Foundation's own facilities and also at a range of community-based facilities.


The services of a dietician are available to clients who attend COPE Foundation services. Advice on healthy eating regimes and special dietary requirements are given where required.


The Community Nurse Specialist, based at Montenotte, provides services to infants, children, adults and families. Ongoing support, information and encouragement is given to families to enable them to adjust to their changing circumstances so that their faimily member is facilitated to access appropriate services.


COPE Foundation's Speech and Language Therapy department provides services to clients of all ages who attend its services. The therapists work closely with families and staff to provide
services which include assessment and intervention, augmentative communication systems , feeding/swallowing disorder interventions, Lámh sign language and Hanen language programmes.


The Physiotherapy service is located at Tracton House, Montenotte. Services provided range from advice and intervention to families of children attending the Early Intervention Programme to hands-on intervention for adults whose needs are changing with their advancing years.
Physiotherapy sessions are also provided at COPE Foundation's Hydrotherapy Pool.


The Occupational Therapy service is based in Tracton House, Montenotte. It's primary goal is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. This is achieved by enabling people to do things that will enhance their ability to participate or by modifying the environment to better support participation in settings where the person works, lives and socialises.


The Psychology Department is based in Bridgeway, Penrose Wharf. Referrals are accepted on individuals who present with developmental delay / general intellectual disability and those seeking admission to any of COPE Foundation's services.
Psychologists provide assessment, advisory and intervention services to clients and their families in all services areas of COPE Foundation.


The Social Work department is based at Penrose Wharf. It's aim is to encourage and assist clients to become as independent as possible and to support families/carers and siblings. Interventions include individual and group work in areas such as accessing Social Welfare entitlements, relationship guidance, bereavement counselling and independence skills.


Nursing & Allied services are provided to clients throughout the Foundation. The staff are involved in a broad spectrum of client focussed activities including general health care, behaviour management,early intervention, elder care, personal and social skills development, community integration. This service also supports Respite/Home Support and Residential services.


A medical team, consisting of Visiting Consultant Psychiatrist & Paediatrician, and a General Medical Officer attend on a sessional basis. G.P.s provide services to clients in the community. A Dental clinic, based at Montenotte, run under the auspices of the HSE-Southern Area provides services to clients of COPE Foundation and to children from the local community.


The transport fleet of specially adapted vehicles provides a service to all departments within COPE Foundation.
The transport fleet of vehicles are upgraded annually in order to provide the most modern of equipment. The drivers and helpers are always willing to help with appointments, outings, club nights and other requests from staff and clients.


COPE Foundation's Catering team provide meals for nearly 700 clients and staff every day at kitchens in Montenotte, Glasheen, Hollyhill and in various centres in Cork city and County.
Healthy eating ia a top priority when it comes to planning meals and the chefs and cooks consult with staff and the Dietitian to provide appropriate meal variety for clients on special diets.


The Library's collection of books, reports, and journals focuses on all aspects of intellectual disabilities including nursing, psychology, special education, sociology, complimentary therapies, leisure, music and art therapy. It is a key resource for
staff and indrectly parents who wish to maintain their awareness of the latest ideas and innovations in intellectual disabilities.
