Santa made a quick pit stop to Cope Foundation this week with his Head Elf James to launch the Cope Foundation Christmas Draw 2019.
The Christmas Draw which has been running for over 20 years is such an important fundraiser for Cope Foundation’s work in supporting over 2,500 people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism across Cork city and county. Thanks to the generosity of the people and businesses of Cork, the Christmas Draw raises much-needed funds that help Cope Foundation to support people to live life their way.
Cope Foundation, one of the largest providers of services and supports to people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism in Ireland requires a significant increase in funding of over €30 million per annum to meet the rapidly growing demands of its service.
Amongst the matters of most pressing concern:
- There are currently 400 children waiting assessment for autism spectrum disorder.
- Of those who have been assessed, there are over 1,350 children currently awaiting specialist intervention. Some have been waiting years.
- Of the adults requiring support, there are 174 currently on a residential waiting list, with many having nowhere to call their permanent home.
- There are 649 adults identified as having “changing needs”, who currently require further intervention and support to meet these changed needs.
Cope Foundation’s ties with the Cork business community can be seen in abundance with the range of prizes on offer for this Super Draw. From Fota Wildlife Park to Ballymaloe Cookery School, Suit Distributors and Montenotte Hotel not to mention the top cash prizes of €2,500, €1,500 and €500 plus a further 22 prizes to be won, there really is something for everyone.
