We are delighted to announce that Lidl are hosting a ball for the first time to raise funds for Cope Foundation and Jigsaw on Friday 20th of September in the Clayton Hotel, Silversprings. The Theme of the Ball is ‘Breaking Down Barriers’. This theme fits very well with both charities as people supported by Cope Foundation and young people supported by Jigsaw overcome barriers every day in their lives.
Funds raised from the ‘Breaking Down Barriers’ Ball will go towards Cope Foundation’s Ability@Work programme. Ability@Work is a dedicated supported employment service which aims to bring young people with intellectual disabilities and /or autism closer to the labour market. This programme assists jobseekers at key transition points between education, training and employment.
In addition, money raised through the Ball will fund One Good School ®, which is Jigsaw’s new schools initiative aimed at supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people by developing a shared responsibility for mental health across the whole school community. A number of schools in Cork will participate in this programme from September 2019 with thanks to support from Lidl.
Speaking at the launch of the charity ball Conor O’Donovan from Lidl said: “At Lidl we are very proud to partner with two fantastic charities - Cope Foundation and Jigsaw. We have seen first-hand the great work of both charities and decided that we would love to collaborate with them both on a project to raise funds to support their services in the communities that we serve. The theme of the Ball is “Breaking Down Barriers” and is derived from the great efforts both groups have made to dispel the myths around mental health and intellectual disabilities respectively. We look forward to a fantastic event filled with the support of the wonderful people and companies of Cork.”
The Ball will take place on 20th September 2019 at the Clayton Hotel, SilverSprings, Cork. The Ball will start with a drinks reception from 7pm followed by a three course meal. Music will be by Cork’s own Love Bugs followed by DJ. There will be a Monster Raffle and plenty of surprises on the night.
Tickets can be bought online here, €100 per ticket and tables of 10 for €1000. Further information please call Cope Foundation's Communications and Fundraising Department on 021-4643323.
