What is Grand Job?

Grand Job? was the name of an advocacy campaign led by Cope Foundation.

The aim of Grand Job? was to support people with intellectual disabilities to find paid employment.

Grand Job? was our first advocacy campaign to change things for the better for the people we support in the area of employment and work.

Grand Job? was proudly supported by Cork Chamber of Commerce.

We also want to thank Allied Print for giving us their support.

Grand Job? launched in May 2015 and ran until May 2016.

What were the aims of Grand Job?

We wanted to find real paid jobs for at least 10 people we support and we found 12.

Some of the jobs are full time, some are part time and others are flexible.

We wanted to find a working match for each person and employer, making sure we got the right jobs for the right people.

We wanted to work in partnership with employers so they knew all the positives about working with people with intellectual disabilities.

We wanted employers in Cork to have the supports they need to employ people with intellectual disabilities.

We wanted our politicians and government to know that jobs are important and that they need to support people with intellectual disabilities to be full and active citizens.

On Friday 2nd October 2015 the government launched "Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People With Disabilities".

This is a plan to help get employment for people with a disability. You can download it here.
